it’s beginning to look a lot like Halloween

This year’s All Hallows’ Eve should be more macabre than usual. We’ve had Victor Frankenstein’s monster since 1818, but Trump may trump Mary Shelley with Vivek Ramaswamy, the GOP candidate for Governour of Ohio. Ramaswamy has released the most odious political ad I’ve ever seen. It features the mother of Amy Acton, his Democratic opponent, accusing her daughter of lying. Small matter that Mom Acton had Amy and her brother taken away for neglect after their stepfather raped Amy. Stepdad avoided prosecution by fleeing the state. Mom was later found guilty of theft by deception.

The ad was widely decried, including by Ohio’s current GOP governour Mike DeWine. Trump, of course, sided with Ramaswamy, who continues to run the ad. I’m open to suggestions, but I can’t think of a dumber political move. Is there a more efficient way to offend women?

And since he has lowered the bar to the ground, let me throw this one out: Ramaswamy looks like the love child of Beavis and Butt-Head.
