There’s plenty to be grateful for this fine late summer day, even with my beloved
Giants in a giant swoon. Our cat Ollie had his drainage tube removed and Jude has
devised a way to cover his stitches, allowing me to work outside. Our dog Slinkee
is learning that the chickens are her friends, which is good because she figured out
how to get in their run. Our island is having a gala fall fair Sunday.
But the best news is that Amanda, a young woman I’ve been helping set up a blog,
has launched it. It’s a feature of her website, which focuses on her photography.

Now that I’m sprung after two days of watching Ollie constantly, I’m off to soak up
some of this glorious sunshine. The first hint of autumn blew through the farm
yesterday, and I’ve got beaucoup summer projects to finish up.
I’ve had many suggestions submitted in the chicken-naming contest, but no bribes
yet. I’ll announce the winner Friday, so there’s still time to enter in the comments
section of this post or this one.
