Episode 6: A New Hope

August 24, 2020

Dear commenters: John B., I do feel some connection with James Carville and would be happy to share a virtual handshake and a “semper fi” with him.  He, too, was in the Corps at the height of the Vietnam War.  I don’t know how he avoided a tour in ‘nam.  I share his political opinions in general, but not his cocksure belief that Biden will rout Trump.

Beanie, it’s good to know that you’ve survived the first wave of the virus in a Republican state.  And you sound well-stocked for a civil war.  Do you have Netflix?

Judith, I agree that Biden and Harris have to make their party planks more specific, but Joe has been working on it since he clinched the votes over Bernie.  As the awfulness of the virus grew darker and darker, Biden told us what he’d do as Trump sulked.  All props to Bernie and Elizabeth Warren for their contributions to the national conversation.  I believe they’ll be amply rewarded in a Biden administration.  Warren as Treasury Secretary would give the GOP fits.

As to the new hope: I have a radio series called “Nuevo Malibu” that runs on a local station.  It’s an absurdist view of a world rearranged when Trump accidentally nukes Canada.  The West Coast secedes and joins with British Columbia to form a new nation.  Earthlings Clell Landis and Doctor Shay Watt?, through a chance encounter in a flying Port-a-Potty, team up with Narrator and Mack, a subliminal being that communicates through holograms, to go where satire has never gone before.

We’ve already visited Trump’s brain and narrowly escaped a turf war at Disneyland.  In our newest episode we meet the Grand Galloping Goof, the Norse goddess Frigg, Tiffany Trump and a surly server at the Caucasian Cafe.  We also visit the home of 8-year-old KellyAnne Conway as she avoids responsibility for stealing a cookie.

Mere hours after the new episode aired, Conway announced that she was quitting the White House staff.  Could that just be a coincidence?

Yes, but please check out the episode, anyway.  Go to cortesradio.ca and click on “Talk Shows” at the top of the home page.  Scroll down to the flying Port-a-Potty and click on “Nuevo Malibu”.  That will take you to the archives, so you can listen to the first five episodes as well.  And please tell your family, friends and foes about it.

No Netflix, but I have a Roku and Prime Video, so I’m all set. I also have two cats who are endlessly entertaining!
