yet another two cents worth
I’m enjoying TrumpMania as much as anyone, but I think it may be leveling off. I don’t mind that I feed into it when I post about him. My blog only reaches tens of people. I was surprised when his poll numbers didn’t dip after the dust-up with John McCain. I was not surprised when the numbers held after the debate, but I’d be re-surprised if they go up much.
Since every U.S. voter has heard of The Donald, I’m assuming that they’ve formed their opinion of him. It only takes the briefest exposure to that blowhard to decide. Trump’s bloviation last Thursday was comically absurd. With the swagger of a playground bully, he talked in terms so vague and grandiose, there was nothing The Daily Show could satirize. That was also Jon Stewart’s last night. I wonder if he left the studio thinking “mission accomplished”.
The bulk of Trump’s supporters look to be old and white. That’s my g-g-g-g-generation. After a half century of exposure to American politics, it baffles me how they can be so gullible. Can they really believe that Trump could set Russia, China, ISIS and all the other non-U.S. humans right? And if he runs as a third-party candidate, would they vote for a guy who would have to fight the Democrats AND the GOP?
The Republicans don’t seem to know what to do about him. They have some rising stars who improved their standing at the debate. They see a Democratic slate with less diversity than them. Hilary doesn’t look near as invulnerable as she did even a few months ago. Her e-mail server problem is nowhere near resolved. And all the Dem candidates are baby boomers or older.
All this fascinates us here above the 49th Parallel. It’s like watching a demolition derby. We have our own national election October 19th. Prime Minister Harper has some significant troubles. But at least we’ll know in a reasonable amount of time. In the meantime, I’m drawing up plans for an apartment building on our farm to house U.S. refugees, just in case The Donald does get elected. I’m calling it Trumpless Tower.

I’ve already been saying “fix up the spare room, Allen, we’re coming!”
It’s ready and we’re waiting for you kids, Hudi.
I just don’t know what to think of The Donald other than he has dropped even lower in my pond of scum if that is possible. Time will tell but I really wish he was over and out. One of my besties thinks that he is The Man For The Job! I of course leave her to her own opinion and I keep mine.
I might need a room at the Trumpless Tower!
Beth, you can stay here rent-free if you’ll be apartment manager.
Ha Ha Allen… Sorry but I will pay rent!!! Yikes… someday I will tell you the HORRORS that I went thru when I WAS an apartment manager…. Haha… I wish I had seen your comment earlier. My pc had a meltdown and I am just now getting caught up on some things. I sure hope that you and Jude are doing well.
Get my tree house ready. . . just in case.
Did you want cedar or alder paneling?
