weighing anchor
December 31, 2012
In that the last day of the year is fraught with symbolism of things ending and things
starting anew, it seems like the perfect time to end this blog. I have some new projects
just underway that are requiring a lot of time and energy.
I truly appreciate you viewership. I hope that the best part of your life is still ahead.
The blog has been a terrific writing challenge, but it’s time to redirect the skills I’ve
been sharpening.
I’ll be online for a few more weeks to respond to any comments, but I don’t plan to
post anymore. Let’s be kind to each other in a world that’s going apeshit over Kim
Kardashian’s pregnancy.

I have read every single post and enjoyed them all. I understand when its time to move on. But I want you to know that you are a wonderful writer and I’ve enjoyed sharing your life. It’s been a privilege to share it with you. If you resume be sure to notify me. I am your favorite lurker . I wish you the best in your future endeavors!.
For some reason, I have January 13 in my mind as the date you started blogging. Maybe you want to do a final post on the anniversary of two years? I too have enjoyed your blogs Allen, but your phone calls even more. Thanks for both. Much Love, L
I’ve Read them All since I found out of my father’s (Alan Luoma) passing. Thank you and good night.
Your blog will be missed by us devoted followers. But hopefully looking forward to some new reincarnation down the road. Happy New Year, Allen and Jude.
Hey, Neighbour! Sorry to hear you are hanging up your eyeshade and leaving your quill firmly planted in the inkwell. I have enjoyed your Blog immensely and have found nothing to really argue about, since I agree with you ’bout most everything you say. Course I was left a bit cold about the references to American baseball and football – after all, if cricket is good enough for the English then it ought to be good enough for the Colonials! Well, since you won’t be blogging anymore, I guess I’ll have to find reasons to visit you more often to catch up with the current rants.
I’m sorry to hear that you’re closing up shop. I’ve enjoyed reading each and every one and am glad that it’s kept me stay a little bit connected to you and Jude. Love you both!
Sorry to see you’re leaving. We have enjoyed your blog as well. Thanks for the update on Kim…
Darn it, Allen!
You will be missed.
Tsk. Shoot.
No, no, no!!!!! Not allowed!!!!!!! You don’t have to post every day but you could write at least once a month, pretty please….
Everyone, I am moved by your kind words. This was a tough decision because I thoroughly enjoy our contact. I can’t say I won’t blog again, but I can’t say when that would be. What I can do, however, is renew with WordPress for another year. If you sign up for e-mail notification, you’d be told the next time I do post.
jesus..i take a little break in reading and come back to this! wtf!!!!! unacceptable.. totally unacceptable.. though telling us is way better than the people i follow and follow and then they just stop… nothing..i check on them for years (i am like that)… sometimes they come back.. mostly not. it is disheartening.. no more chicken updates..no more chicken naming.. jeez…
Allen,
Last year around this time, I said I was going to stop blogging. But I missed it. So I ended up writing the odd thing, mostly odd things. Like today, a very odd poem. Maybe you could just ease up on the obligation aspect, and do it when you feel like it. I’m sure we’d all enjoy that!
Julie
I have really enjoyed your blog and will miss it when it’s gone. Thanks for the laughs and the tears.
