just nicked us, thanks

November 20, 2014

While most of Canada and the U.S. digs out from practice winter, we are enjoying our first above-freezing day since the newest Polar Vortex brushed past us on the way south.  Just before that we had 21 inches of rain in a four-week span.  As we all anxiously await the reappearance of Buffalo, New York, I wanted to show you how the P.V. affected us.

That isn’t snow.  It’s frost on frost for five straight days.  It took a particular liking to the netting over our blueberries.

After the monsoons stopped, we were able to burn some of the brush piles from the logging in the spring.

Air pollution aside, it gave us some haunting images.

While checking on the burn piles, we found this monster cauliflower mushroom.  Jude put her boot beside it for perspective.

Inside, our miniature lime tree prospers.  We’re trying to convince it that it’s in Florida.  We’ve blocked its view of the outside and play it Jimmy Buffett songs every day.
