taking a timeout
This is a fascinating time to be alive. The college football playoff season is afoot, with the NFL post season joust shaping up. Basketball is abuzz at all levels. Christmas reminders are virtually inescapable. Trump’s hubris rages on as his approval steadily drops. I’m curious to see how he’ll spin the pipe bomber’s arrest since the bomber believes that the 2020 election was stolen.
But I have to set all that aside for awhile to attend to a personal matter. Next Tuesday I have an operation to further strengthen my lungs. It’s an upgrade to surgery I had in March of 2024 to repair leaks in them. You can’t fault them for showing some wear. They’re 80 years old and have endured such tribulations as Marine Corps boot camp.
So it may be awhile before I blog again. A few weeks I’m guessing. I’ll be vegging out in front of the TV with the aforementioned sports, ample news analysis and, of course, reruns of Cheers. And, as always, I’ll be under the watchful eye of an RN: my beloved Jude.
TTYS, and Happy holidays!
All the best wishes regarding your surgery Alan. They have come a long way in lung surgery, even in the last year.
You will enjoy all the kickback time, have the best nurse, and hopefully no repeat performances are spontaneous pneumothorax in the near future. Much better timing now then in the spring with a long self imposed “Honey Do” list

Thank you, Betty. Absolutely will I have the best home care. I hope to be in top shape by spring, as 80-year-olds go. Please keep our fellow islanders in line while we’re gone, as you always do.
You have every excuse to lie about and scratch! Look on the bright side. Heh heh.
Hope all goes well.
