George Santos . . . Trailblazer!

Eight weeks ago, George Santos was elected to the U.S. House from New York’s Third District, the state’s wealthiest. He is the first openly gay non-incumbent Republican to be elected to Congress. He did so by aligning with Trump, calling police brutality “a made-up concept” and abortion “barbaric”. He was at the “Stop the Steal” rally on January 6th, marveling at Aging Orange’s “full awesomeness”. And like his hero, he lies as easily as he breathes.

Even though there was ample oppo research available during the campaign, Santos slicked his way out of it. Now the pheasants have come home to roost. He lied about his heritage, claiming falsely to be Jewish. When confronted with facts to the contrary, he glibly said “I never claimed to be Jewish . . . I said I was Jew – ish.” That has to go into the lame-o political quotes hall of fame, right up there with Clinton’s “I didn’t inhale.”

There’s much more and it continues to pile up, such as financial misdeeds and misrepresentation of his work and educational history. He said his mother was “the first female executive at a major financial institution” who was working at the South Tower of the World Trade Center on 9/11. Other sources list her occupation as domestic worker or home care nurse. Santos also alleges that his mother died due to the attack. She died in 2016.

The smarmiest nugget from this mound of excrement is Santos saying that he had four employees die in the Pulse nightclub massacre in Orlando. None of the 49 dead had any connection to any of his companies.

He is being investigated by federal prosecutors for a $705,000 loan he made to his campaign.

This is a huge problem for the Repubs. Santos says he’ll be sworn in January 3rd. He has already pledged to vote for Kevin McCarthy as House Speaker. This is a vote McCarthy desperately needs. With Marjorie Taylor Green, Jim Jordan and Scott Perry already promising to give him grief, Kev’s new year is gonna be a corker. Should Santos resign, the GOP’s slim margin will slim even more.
