just nicked us, thanks
While most of Canada and the U.S. digs out from practice winter, we are enjoying our first above-freezing day since the newest Polar Vortex brushed past us on the way south. Just before that we had 21 inches of rain in a four-week span. As we all anxiously await the reappearance of Buffalo, New York, I wanted to show you how the P.V. affected us.
That isn’t snow. It’s frost on frost for five straight days. It took a particular liking to the netting over our blueberries.
After the monsoons stopped, we were able to burn some of the brush piles from the logging in the spring.
Air pollution aside, it gave us some haunting images.
While checking on the burn piles, we found this monster cauliflower mushroom. Jude put her boot beside it for perspective.
Inside, our miniature lime tree prospers. We’re trying to convince it that it’s in Florida. We’ve blocked its view of the outside and play it Jimmy Buffett songs every day.

Wow, that is some enthusiastic frost! My current mantra, as we adjust to the sudden January like temps here in the mid hudson valley, is “thank goodness I don’t live just south of Buffalo” Repeated regularly it has helped a bit
It is so nice to hear from you again. Good mantra: specific and not over-reaching. Will you get any of the rain shuffling off to Buffalo?
The frost was beautiful!! And I hope you framed the smoke in the trees NITE shot!!
Keep posting
I don’t know how to use the extras on our camera. It was bought mostly because it’s waterproof, in case I take another kayak tump. All the photos I post are “as is”.
I’m liking the cauliflower mushroom. What a monster!
It’s Diane (summergale) I logged in .. hmmmm..
How have you been? How’s your autumn so far?
And it gave us several delicious side dishes.
