Roameo (1997 – 2011).
April 22, 2011
Yesterday, with the heaviest of hearts, Jude and I had Roameo euthanized.
Tomorrow, I will post a proper memorial for him. Today, I grieve.

I’m so sorry, Allen.
I am so very very sorry. I have been there too many times and grieve for you. I don’t post often but I do faithfully read.
I’m sorry for your loss.
My condolences.
sorry for your loss… here is a poem i have saved for moments like these… i don’t know who wrote it.
Old Dogs Do Not Die
We have a secret, you and I,
That no one else shall know,
For who but I can see you lie
Each night in the fireglow?
And who but I can reach my hand
Before we go to bed,
And feel the living warmth of you
And touch your silken head?
And only I walk woodland paths,
And see you ahead of me,
Your small form racing with the wind,
So young again, and free.
And only I can see you swim
In every brook I pass…
And when I call, no one but I
Can see the bending grass..
Allen, Jude, my heart breaks for you, and I’m crying as I write this, but I know that you did the kindest possible thing for your dear friend Roameo.
kris, that’s a lovely poem, thank you for sharing it. I like it better than The Rainbow Bridge.
The grief, the poem, I cry for your loss and for all of the many flawless fur-friends who have gone on ahead, who no one else can see. Deepest sympathies from a devoted reader/reluctant commenter.
Katherine, I appreciate that you chose this time to comment. Thank you for your sympathy.
Everyone, thank you so very much for understanding and sharing our loss. kris, that was a wonderful poem you sent. Did you write it? I’ll have some follow up thoughts and feelings
about Roameo in Sunday’s post.
no, i didn’t write it and i don’t know who did. if i have any author on poems i credit them. i am an ‘animal’ person and i have collected many nice poems. ilike the rainbow bridge but i like other less known poems more.
