shine on, you crazy burnpiles
January 17, 2011
I mentioned yesterday that our community got bulk electricity last
summer, thanks to years of exertion by a long-time resident whose
muscles must still ache from wrestling with infinite bureaucrats. I
also said that four community members went to traffic control school
so we could save on flagging fees.
Jude and I were two of the flaggers. Despite copious rainfall, we had
copious fun seeing so many of our neighbours and holding the power
of life and death (actually, just stop and go) over them. One evening
we were working as a crew monitored the burnpiles. Here’s how it
looked.

I hope you have pictures of you and Jude in your Flaggers outfits. You did get outfits, right?
We got some rockin’ steel-toed boots and seriously reflective raincoats. In one of the burnpile pics, you can see her in the distance, talking to someone in a car. Alas, our
traffic control careers have since flagged. We do, however, still use the outfits as marital aids and hand signals in our foreplay.
Makes me want hot dogs and marshmallows!
