ahhh! the last lap

With a month to go until the mid-terms, it’s looking good that cooler heads will soon prevail. I can’t see Trump ending the war or tariffs, no matter how much it would help the 468 or so Republicans up for election or re-election. The economic news is grim for them. Witness today’s report that the U.S. work force added only 29,000 jobs in September, ticking up the unemployment rate. The GOP is cancelling campaign ads in districts it knows it can’t win, trotting out Agent Orange just in ruby red states. As a perfect comment on his pathology, he has spent taxpayer money on an ad that shows him as a women’s chorus sings “love me” over and over. The ad even pissed off Louisiana Senator and Curmudgeon Supreme John Kennedy.

There’s likely nothing positive he can do to turn the tide, which makes him all the more dangerous. His attempts to stop the vote have largely fizzled, and an army of lawyers are ready for whatever shit he’ll fling on the wall to counter the outcome. He’s unencumbered by ethical moorings, so prepare for some major league shenanigans.

I honestly believe the republic will stand.
