how about Lake Inferior?

August 28, 2026

We are cursed to live in interesting times. Trump has reached a new but likely temporary low in his pettiness by trying to change Lake Ontario into Lake America. Never mind that it’s been called Ontario since at least 1660. Subtlety or even accuracy is wasted on him. At least we have a new metric in his decompensation. As a former mental health professional, I’m concerned about his rapid decline. As a current satirist, I’m concerned that I can’t keep up with him.

I’ve enjoyed the response to his inanity. Canada’s prime minister Mark Carney has not taken the bait, but rather matched Aging Orange’s tariffs. Ontario Province Premier Doug Ford has invited Trump to kiss his ass. Manitoba Province Premier Wab Kinew compared Trump’s antics to a washed-up rock band playing a Vegas casino. Illinois Governour JB Pritzker suggested altering the name of Trump Tower in Chicago to Natalie Tower, after 47’s prominent sycophant Natalie Harp. But my favourite response was the Canadian-on-the-street who suggested that we change the name of Lake Michigan to Lake Epstein.

Regrettably, the world continues to burn while Trump fiddlefucks around with his every perceived slight. Maybe it’s best that he does perseverate on such inconsequential matters. I believe that we’ll see a major mood swing on the continent after Labour Day. With all the U.S. House of Representatives’ seats and a third of the Senate’s up for re-election, a lot of Trump’s enablers are going to have to make some tough choices. An increasingly desperate and delusional Trump will likely make even worse choices. It could really get ugly.
