the tide is still rising

May 28, 2026

We may never know how far Trump will go before he’s satisfied that he’s done enough. He’s building a cage just behind the White House for a UFC title bout on his birthday. He’s trying to get a $250 bill with his image on it legalized. He wants to blow up Oman. He’s seeking retribution on the greatest threat ever to the republic: E Jean Carroll.

I’m certain that he saw his endorsement of Ken Paxton as the win he so desperately needed, despite the grief it will bring to the Republican National Committee. He remains cocksure that his trade policies are working. (Damn the tariffs, full speed ahead.) And no matter how much the Iranians play him, he thinks that he’s the player.

But it’s steadily changing. The economy still sucks for the bulk of the electorate. Opposition to the slush fund is growing, even before some clown like Mike Lindell files a claim. Hopefully members of Congress are getting an earful from their constituents. Each day past is a larger percentage of the countdown to election day.
