the Saskatchewan syphilis situation

The satellite package of TV channels I have to choose from spans Canada from coast to coast. I had at least a dozen offering the 49ers – Eagles game yesterday, and I apparently selected one from Regina two provinces away. So imagine my surprise when I started seeing ads alerting Saskatchewanians about an increase in syphilis as I zapped through the commercial breaks.

I don’t mean to make light of a serious problem. I was just struck by the juxtaposition of football and a venereal disease. It shouldn’t be lost in a world where the leader of the free world keeps saying “are you gonna believe me or your lying eyes?”. Dig in, folks. This could be the most consequential year of all our lives.
