a blizzard of bullshit
I talked to my surgeon yesterday, who told me that a fresh X-ray of my lungs showed that the operation was successful and I could resume normal activity. That was most welcome news, even though what’s normal these days isn’t very palatable. The tragic shooting of Renee Nicole Good by ICE agent Johnathan Good has unleashed a blizzard of bullshit from Trumptopia.
Kristi Noem started it by claiming that the agents involved had been sent to get a car out a snowbank, even though Good’s car was on a plowed street. Aging Orange’s posts about Good, predictably, were even more far-fetched.
The only thing positive to come of Good’s death is a well-covered investigation to address the hysteria swirling around the event. I hope that it’s swift and thorough, especially since the campaigning for all the seats in the national House of Representatives and a third of the Senate is heating up.
More and more Republicans are putting space between themselves and Donny J. For good reason. He’s a steady 12 points underwater in overall approval, with lower marks for his economic and immigration policies. A new jobs report was bleak. One pundit noted that Canada, with a population about an eighth of America’s, has recently created more jobs than the U.S. Trump’s stump speech about how prices are going down is mostly misinformation about gasoline and eggs. And his annexation of Venezuela will soon be a major headache. He charged into it with the same clear-headed logic that gave the world the grief of Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan.
Stay tuned in.
