warrior culture v. toxic masculinity

October 1, 2025

I hope the world will never again see a major political event as disturbing as Trump’s appearance before America’s top military leaders yesterday at Marine Corps Base Quantico. Who better to authorize Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth to chastise them and their troops as fat and unfit than a corpulent draft dodger?

Hegseth, Aging Orange’s prime lackey, had the opening act, railing about how he will rid the armed forces of DEI, climate change worshipers and “dudes in dresses”. “Should our enemies be foolish enough to challenge us,” he railed, “they will be crushed by the violence, precision and ferocity of the War Department.”

He then said what he must of thought would bring down the house: “In other words, to our enemies, F.A.F.O.” (I had to Google this. It means Fuck Around and Find Out.) As Hegseth paused and waited for thunderous applause, a camera pan of the audience showed them as silent and still as a photograph. It was as if the Grand Wizard of the KKK was playing the Apollo. Nonplussed, he added “If necessary, our troops can translate that for you.”

After Hegseth had cooled down the audience, Trump bitched about the usual stuff, but added that the military he so regally commands could start using U.S. cities as training grounds. I’m hoping that idea just gets lost in his foggy mind, but it’s a terrifying one to consider.

ADDENDUM: In reading many reactions to the Quantico fiasco, I came across a great quote that I can’t find again, so I’ll have to paraphrase it. Some attorney, mocking Hegseth’s insistence that U.S. troops be fit to the buff, said “You think IT specialists spend three hours in the gym every day to look like the cast of 300 ? They’re at furry conventions and model train shows.”

I was just relieved that the audience wasnt cheering. Here’s hoping THEY, at least, have some sense.

Trump is everything the military isn’t: undisciplined, self-centered, avaricious. He’s commander in chief, but those in the service have a higher commitment to the Constitution.
