hanging in there
We’re having our fifth day of rain on the farm, the last three not much in accumulation but lengthy enough to keep the air clear. The only forest fire of three on Vancouver Island that’s still out of control– the Mount Underwood blaze– is not advancing as rapidly, so there’s that.
Jude is watching the meeting in the White House that hopefully will undo some of the immense harm Trump did in the Alaska debacle. Aging Orange’s incompetence is so staggering that it reminds me of a poem I saw in a bathroom stall: “Like Midas I’ve a magic mitt, except that mine turns all to shit.”
My beloved San Francisco Giants are all but mathematically eliminated from the post season as their superstars flounder, but I have a great diversion from that. The Toronto Blue Jays are the exact opposite, winning two-thirds of their home games and half their road games. They are the best team in the American League, with a terrific balance of youth and veterans. And almost all their games are televised.

Hey, JB. It’s good to learn that you haven’t melted in the Kansas summer. If the Jays play the Brewers or the Phillies, they’d have good escape routes through the Great Lakes or the Atlantic Ocean, respectively. If they face the Dodgers, all they’d have to do to dodge ICE is stay away from Home Depots. And if it’s the Giants . . . oh, never mind. Semper Fi.
