the fiendish thingy

July 25, 2025

Yesterday Jude and I went to Campbell River on the mainland — that being Vancouver Island — for me to have a fiendish thingy excised from my left forearm. That’s not the medical term, but we can’t accurately name it until some lab somewhere analyses it. The doctor who removed it said it didn’t look malignant. He is listed in the directory of his medical group as a maternity care provider, so this may have been a bit out of his domain.

It was about the size, shape and color of a scallop. Anyhoo, after the procedure we ran a few errands and headed back to the ferry terminal. The boats run about every half hour, but they close down noonish for an hour so the employees can have a decent meal break. This irritates the tourists but I find it charming and quintessentially Canadian.

We here north of the 49th are still keenly watching the shit show south. It baffles us how the American electorate can tolerate Trump’s blatant power grab, but there is some hope. His approval rating is starting to slip among Republicans due to his inept handling of the Epstein fiasco. Some of his most ardent supporters are starting to abandon him.

Remember Jacob Chansley, the fur-bearing and behorned QAnon Shaman Trump pardoned for his participation in the Jan6 coup attempt? He has soured on Aging Orange, tweeting “Fuck this stupid piece of shit . . . What a fraud.”

I’m not getting my hopes up yet because DonnyJ’s base has tolerated so much of his criminal behaviour. But maybe they draw the line at pedophilia.
