thank you, Donald Trump
I’m as surprised as you might be, but I’m expressing genuine gratitude to Aging Orange for finally doing one positive thing for Canada. Oh, sure, he has heaped huge tariffs on us and wants to assimilate our nation in Borg fashion, but — bless his heart — his recklessness is driving some of America’s best and brightest our way.
The Medical Council of Canada is seeing a nearly 600% increase in U.S. medical graduates exploring options to practice in Canada and registering for a Canadian medical license. Dr. Joss Reimer, president of the Canadian Medical Association (CMA), says that U.S. physicians are leaving America due to political interference and cuts in research funding.
“This is a good opportunity for Canada to help reduce the shortage of health professionals across the country,” Dr. Reimer said. The CMA is asking the federal government to fast-track visas and excise other immigration barriers to streamline the process. Health associations and municipalities have launched recruitment efforts.
This would be a huge boost north of the 49th. Rural and remote areas here are typically underserved. The two medical clinics on our island, for example, have struggled staying adequately staffed.
So, kudos to you, Donny Jay. Your drain is our gain.
