my bad

I regret starting off my favourite season on a negative note, but I must apologize for misleading you yesterday. I erroneously observed that Scarlett O’Hara ate and puked up a turnip when she returned to her beloved and war-ravaged Tara.

My friend and neighbour just a few provinces away, Blondi Blathers, commented that she didn’t remember Scarlett O’Hara doing that in “Gone with the Wind”. I watched the scene on You Tube, and I’ll be the first (and only) to admit I misremembered. It was a carrot, not a turnip, beet or radish, as others have claimed. Also, I’m not sure that she even consumed it. The lighting was so dramatic it was difficult to confirm.

You can see the leafy end of the carrot shaking as she bends over to eat it, but with the raging sunset behind her, that’s blacked out. She grabs her stomach, gags, cries and falls down, then heroically (heroinically?) arises to deliver the famous speech that ends: “With God as my witness, I will never be hungry again!” No splatter was observed,

And thusly, spring begins.

I’m gonna go watch some March Madness. Go, Jayhawks!
