bottomless Trump

March 6, 2025

I can’t resist saying this: despite his bulbous ass, there is no bottom to Trump. I would not fat shame any other human, but Aging Orange richly deserves this. His mammoth harangue to Congress, which he could have used to start healing an ailing nation, was just warmed-over grievances with some cheap emotional stunts like giving an honorary Secret Service badge to a kid who beat brain cancer. Small matter that Trump has tried to cut funding to cancer research.

My biggest takeaway from his speech, however, was how incredibly petty he is. Perfectly petty. Turns out that the elephant is an apt symbol for the GOP. They actually do have good memories. Donny John proved that by airing out one perceived injustice after another, then vowing revenge of Biblical proportions.

The massive cuts that he and Elon Musk are so joyfully executing are starting to create some backlash. Yesterday in Santa Rosa CA, where Jude and I used to live, veterans demonstrated against VA cuts outside a VA clinic. Trump and Musk want to eliminate 80,000 of the 400,000 jobs in the agency. Given the years it took me to qualify for disability for my PTSD, it galls me to think that such a massive move would slow down that snail’s pace even more. Without Jude’s determination, I would have stopped trying.

And Trump keeps laying it on. Today he said that if Canada responds to his lumber tariffs in kind, all the U.S. would need to do is harvest the national parks. I hope that Americans realize that all his horseshit is mostly a smokescreen for the massive tax cuts he wants to give his friends. Indeed, they very well might see through this ruse. His approval rating has already dipped below his disapproval rating.

CNN’s chief data analyst Harry Enten says Trump’s overall net approval and on the economy are “historically awful . . . weak, weak, weak going into a 1st address to Congress. He has the 2nd worst overall approval (+1) on record. Beating only himself (2017). His net approval on the economy (-4) is the worst.”

There is so much we could talk about.. It is something every day. I think Trudeau has been doing a fabulous job and wish he was staying on. I can’t imagine how he thinks the country can improve economically by putting everyone out of work. I see they are selling buildings for the DOJ, and other agencies. We could go on and on. I loved Bernie’s opposition speech right after. How does he do it at his age? Thank God for Bernie!! None of the Demos except for Schiff are doing as much.

It’s been nearly 10 years in office for Trudeau, and the country seems ripe for change. Poilievre leads him 40 to 30% in a recent poll, but I believe Mark Carney or Chrystia Freeland would quickly bypass him, especially if Pierre is successfully linked to Trump. I’m a registered Independent voter in the U.S. who votes Democrat, but they make me nuts with their ineptness at times. They seem rudderless right now. Kamala Harris is M.I.A.

your critique of aging orange’s “speech” mirrors almost exactly as our son Bret’s analysis of the same verbiage. Bret is a true politico, championing the Green Party when he was of college age and a huge fan of Bernie’s. I cannot recall if I told you that he called me on election night, literally in tears over the fact that we- as a country- were so fucking stupid as to allow this election to result as it did…we love your guy Trudeau even if he is on the verge of ending his success and popularity in Canada–trade??? wish I had known you had struggles with VA rating for PTSD. Colonel Patty worked for the VA a couple of years after retiring from the military-assisted several vets during that time to recoup their retirement, pension and/or disability rating that they had essentially been denied via previous years lack of support and direction: I recall several cases where the vets received $50K+ in backpay for benefits withheld/denied. One got enough to buy a huge Chevy pickup as he had always dreamed of having–yes, it was sort of a foolish expenditure, as he and his wife lived in very poor conditions, but he died of cancer (Vietnam related) within months as did his wife shortly thereafter–at least they got to “ride in style” for a few. Keep writing–love your style. Love your wonderful wife as you should…

I remember most fondly the conversation we had in your kitchen, when the Colonel joined us after counseling a veteran. I know we discussed PTSD in general, but I’m not sure if I told you that I had a claim being processed. No more than a month after I got home, I was granted full disability. It has made all the difference in the world. It wouldn’t surprise me if Trump cuts VA benefits, because he’s foolish enough to risk the wrath of veterans, typically a stronghold for Republicans.
