not technically spring, but you can see it from here

February 22, 2025

So we’re in the final week of meteorological winter and I’m counting the hours. At midnight tonight we will be 93.4% done. It’s really looking like a seasonal shift here. We’ve had a lot of rain the last few days, with lots more predicted. We’re pushing ten degrees C. (50 F.) and almost all the snow is gone. It melted so fast yesterday that it looked like a time-lapse photo every time I let the dogs out to pee and bark at interlopers real and imagined.

PondNear, the one by the house, has nearly thawed, so I’ll assume the same for PondFar. The creek that supplies our micro-hydro and domestic water is roaring, augmented by the snowmelt. Ideas for outdoor projects solidify as we sit by the woodstove and/or TV.

I can’t help but wonder what warmer weather will bring to the U.S. Trump will continue his heinous course because he has no reverse gear. J.B., a friend of mine from my many years in Pittsburg, Kansas, told me that the city recently had a protest against immigration policies. Granted, the city of 20,000+ has a university, but Kansas voted 57% for Aging Orange. One counter-protester, oddly, was dragging an American flag behind his motorcycle.

Thx for the shout-out, AP, concerning our raucous protest of the immigration roundup that DJT and Co are enacting. I see that the Director of ICE was fired by Donnie as he was obviously not meeting his quota of deportations even though half or more of those deported are reported to NOT be criminals bit simply civil violators of being her without a green card. I think perhaps Obama may actually have had a higher deportation rate than Donnie Orange, but I digress. Trump is becoming more unpopular according to the week’s polls-I can only hope the trend continues and cascades upon his thinning-haired head…I think I might be supportive of going away with the penny, but pretty much everything else he’s ordered so far is not good for at least a significant portion of those who voted him into office again. Hoping we wake up soon-particularly some GOP-turned–Trumpers who may see election challenges if enough of their constituents feel the pain I believe is coming for almost all Americans in one form or another..till then, we try to shore each other up in this part of America. Saw some old pix posted on FB by Joe Ferraro portraying the wonderful humour(pretty good, eh) that you once graced Pittsburg via your Saturday night skits…peace, Marine

And thank you for the point-out, J.B. It’s just 20 months until all of the U.S. House and a third of the Senate have elections. I believe that every employee purge Aging Orange orchestrates costs him votes. It’s got to add up. Looking at Joe’s pics brings back the fondest of memories. It always helped to have you laughing heartily. AND Canada discontinued our penny in 2013. P.S. Good one with “humour(pretty good, eh)”. Semper Fi.
