wow!

July 22, 2024

In the wake of the political tsunami yesterday, I posted that it was unclear if Kamala Harris would replace Biden as the Democrats’ nominee. It’s not official until the convention next month, but the coalescing of support for Harris happened with a swiftness and concreteness I’ve never seen in a political party that shoots itself in the foot far too often.

Donations and endorsements are pouring in. A slew of Dem governours are courting Harris for the VP slot. She’s already signaled how she’ll campaign, as a prosecutor of a felon. Brilliant. When Trump is on his heels, he fabricates all the more. She’ll nail him on that.

I posted just after the assassination attempt that there’s no one the Dems could choose to beat Trump, but I don’t believe that now. In classic Trumpian fashion, Aging Orange has already overplayed the event. He just wielded the Divine Intervention card. Today he called Biden the worst president ever, when actually he earned that title earlier this year in a survey of 154 historians and political scientists.

I can’t wait to see some fresh polls. Harris checks a lot of boxes as a black woman with Asian heritage and a Jewish husband. J.D. Vance’s chauvinistic views on women, especially regarding abortion, will soon outweigh his “aw-shucks” veneer. Hopefully.

FUN FACT: In looking up an alternative to “fabricate” in my thesaurus, I found the phrase “trump up”.

Kamala would never have my vote. she has not shown me anything as Vice-President and is too pro-Israel. I would prefer Alexandra Cortez. But I don’t vote like some of my friends do just for a woman.

I agree that Harris wasn’t given much to do except be “czar” of the border mess, but please reconsider. Not voting for her is a half-vote for Trump. AOC’s time is coming. She’s got too much talent and energy to be ignored.

“It ain’t over till it’s over”, as my favorite Yogi mystic has been quoted, but at least the Dems have some real hope to hitch onto vs the on-going despair we’ve witnessed since that disastrous “debate”: I put that last word in quotes as there was never really a debate going on as Trump merely lied and/or refused to answer pointed questions and Joe seemed overwhelmed with picking which lie he wanted to address that he certainly looked old/feeble…not a guarantee by any means but I always choose HOPE when it is even the slimmest of outcomes…

After years of taking on sociopaths like Trump, Harris could carve him up in a debate. He would likely try to bully her, which would feed into the male v. female dynamic that’s going to loom over the campaign. It’ll be like deja vu all over again. Semper fi and my best to the Colonel
