nearly at a loss for words

July 15, 2024

We’re having perfect weather up here on the farm, with temperatures in the low 20’s (70’s F.) and a nice breeze to keep away the blackflies whose bite can draw blood. But with the heaviest of hearts I look south to the events of the last few days. Remember the image of a barely wounded Trump raising his fist as he was hustled offstage, because he’s going to ride it into the presidency. There’s no one the Dems can recruit to beat him now. Plus their chances to win back the House dim every day Biden remains obstinate.

And today’s dismissal of the classified documents case by Judge Cannon is about as egregious a judicial event as possible. I’ve blogged about the near sanctity of said documents, so we got a whole new world kinda thing on this one. It might be academic, though. Trump would have absolved himself of it as soon as he retook office.

The only glimmer of hope I can find right now is that a near-death experience like Trump just had can change a person dramatically. We’ll know from his acceptance speech at the GOP convention if he learned anything from it.

Failing that, I could move to a forest in Canada. Oh, wait . . .

The convention speech could be a total smokescreen. Trumps words this morning upon his learning of the dismissal by his favorite judge was, to the effect, they need to dismiss all the hoax charges set up by the crooked weaponized Biden administration…so much for the “let’s all just get along” request from his GOP lackie’s…semper fi, Marine

Well, Trump snagged a Marine-JD Vance-to be his VP!! JD has had very accurate commentary about DJT back in the old days when he saw DJT as he truly is…. now he will gladly do what the forever fawning Mike Pence failed to do and that includes violating the constitution and/or all laws should DJT be successful in his third bid…as the flight deck commander stated in the original movie “Top Gun”…”God help us…”

Hey, JB. Trump, regrettably, has a preternatural ability to corrupt others. Vance is no dummy. He has a juris doctor degree from Yale and edited the law journal there. He wrote a best-seller, “Hillbilly Elegy”. He spent six months in Iraq as a combat correspondent, but it was with the 2nd Marine Air Wing, so it’s unclear how much shit he saw (if any). Wikipedia tells us “his decorations from this period are considered typical of a Marine with a clean service record.” One of those decorations was the Good Conduct Medal, which we jarheads derisively called “the fire watch ribbon”. Semper Fi, and as the late great Wade Hannon would have said, “Random Chance preserve us”.
