My recent lung X-ray showed that the hole in it healed properly, so my surgeon wished me well and cut me loose Wednesday. It’s been a challenging 8+ months, so it was no surprise that it would end on a low note. Monday morning Jude and I piled the dogs into the car and headed to the ferry terminal so we could go to Campbell River for the X-ray. It was blustery, but we had taken the ferry in worse weather. The Powers-That-Be in the ferry hierarchy, however, decided that it wasn’t worth the risk, and cancelled sailing after sailing. We waited six hours in the car, finally pulling out of line because the Medical Imaging department of the hospital was about to close.

The next day the bluster was gone, I made it to the hospital and my surgeon got the X-ray in time for our tele-meeting. Immensely relieved, I celebrated with some liquid THC and a two-hour bubble bath. Friday I went outside and started prioritizing my projects. That was easy because everywhere I looked needed some sort of tending to. A farm is never done.

I’ll cop to ebullience over my personal situation, but there seems to be some rays of light in the general gloom as well. Arizona, bless its heart, has likely given its electoral votes to Biden with its return to the good old days. You remember, right after the Civil War. The Right’s relentless war on reproductive rights, now with rebel yell, is guaranteed grief for the GOPers. Any state that has an abortion-related measure on the November ballot will quite likely see a sharp increase in women voters. That might even put Florida in play for the Dems.

The Republicans, keenly interested in humans until they’re actually born, have put themselves in a genuine quandary. Trump and Trumpettes like Kari Lake are caught in a simple binary choice. Aging Orange has already flip-flopped twice. If he tries to appeal to the middle, he could lose the Evangelicals.

But the Donald’s political problems pale when compared to his trial starting Monday. It will be a guaranteed circus maximus and could stretch out through November. I can’t wait to see the term mushroomed-shaped penis become part of the U.S. legal system.

Speaking of which: David Pecker. He’s the publisher who arranged the catch-and-kill stories about Trump, most specifically those involving Karen McDougal and Stormy Daniels. If he spills, it could be game over.

And if there is an interactive god, please let Trump testify.

I am glad to hear about your medical progress. We haven’t been off the Island in years. It used to be so easy. Just line up and go. Now here at Swartz Bay, you have to have reservations and those are cancelled. Combination of weather, no staff, and mechanical problems. I don’t know how people do it that have to go to the mainland regularly. Our most frequent ferry rides have been on the COHO to Port Angeles. The COHO never cancels no matter what.
Politically you are such an optimist. You keep thinking they are going to get Trump and all these crazy GOPers are going to lose. Not all women are anti-abortion and many are Trump supporters. You can’t count on them or people of color.
    Good Luck

Sorry about the slow response. Spring fever. I agree that the Coho is the better option to the U.S. We used it to visit Jude’s son and family in northern California two years ago. A very pleasant trip and it allowed us to bypass the Seattle metro area. I do remain cautiously optimistic about the election. The trial is not doing him any favours. It’s bumped up his fundraising, but his legal bills are staggering. I wish the Dems would go with
someone other than Biden, but it looks like a geezer match is inevitable. Look for Kamala Harris to make a positive difference.
