just sayin’

November 3, 2023

So our new off-grid energy system is installed and humming along, save for our Pelton water wheel developing a new sound that might not be healthy. Then again, we’re running at peak efficiency and have plenty of rainfall plus ample diesel fuel in our back-up generator, so all is well today. With the world series done, I have scads of football and basketball games to attend to. The SEC has two premium match-ups tomorrow, Missouri at Georgia and Alabama at my beloved LSU. The Golden State Warriors are off to a great start, supposedly having resolved last season’s tensions. And Kansas starts its season next week ranked number one by most sports writers.

I have stopped watching news about the Middle East atrocities because the suffering, particularly that of the civilians and most particularly the children, triggers my PTSD from witnessing all that first hand in Vietnam.

At the opposite end of those events, I do watch the Trumps on Trial with great zeal. Where else will you find gems like Eric Trump claiming all he does is pour concrete? If you have photos of this, please contact me immediately. Almost as absurd, Ivanka tried to dodge testifying by claiming she couldn’t find a babysitter.

But the real gem this week seemed to slip through the pundits’ news feed. A poll of Iowa Republicans preferred Trump at 43%, with Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis second at 16% each. That’s still a wide lead, but it means 57% of the Corn State’s GOPers preferred someone other than Aging Orange.

Is this a harbinger of Trump fatigue? I hope so, too.

Well AP, your off-grid lifestyle seems to prevail for at least another day. Glad to hear winter stocks are in good order. I fully agree that daily “news” seems pretty grim at times. We can only hope that karma eventually reigns supreme with respect to Agent Orange-he is truly such a slime ball through and through: it is sad he has been privileged for so long, though I know in my heart that he may never have seen happiness within his sphere of narcissism…just hoping Jude and you have a joyful hibernation as cooler weather surrounds us all. Peace, my old-time friend and Marine.
