energy galore
Not only does the farm bask in the glorious October sun today, we finally got the rain event mentioned in my previous post, so our micro-hydro pipes are going full blast again. AND, our friend Ian is well into installing our new energy system. I find much comfort in all that, especially when considering the power problems the world hurtles toward.
Jude and I can now concern ourselves with other pressing matters, like the wood shed that needs resupplying and the mounds of leaves under our maple trees that need to be in our compost bins. We will gleefully attend to these matters yet still find time to watch ample sporting events. LSU and the San Francisco 49ers are doing well, thank you, and the participants for the World Series are just about decided. Tomorrow our favourite team, the Golden State Warriors, start what we hope to be a bounce back season.
Our other spectator sport, U.S. politics, is not nearly as rewarding. The failure of Jim Jordan was satisfying, to be sure, especially to see his supporters describe him as one of the most popular members of the House. And, of course, his defeat was the Democrats’ fault. But with all the various global and national crises raging on, the GOP choses to expend all its energy on an internecine squabble. The party is doing the Dems the courtesy of writing ads for next year’s campaigns.
